2nd December’2016
This was a normal winter morning with golden sun. After breakfast Anil went to his office and I was just sitting under soft sun with morning newspaper and a cup of tea. Neeraja called me on phone. She wanted to come to my house to meet me.
Today I sensed great stress in her voice. She was complaining of her son Prakash. I remember once meeting him in her house. Around 11:30 a.m. she came to meet me.She looked very angry and anxious. I just told her to cool down l and offered her glass of cold water and sweet kalakand.
Few minutes later I asked, “Neeraja, what happened? You look tense. Mukesh is ok?” She shook her head in yes. I again asked,” Then what happened to Prakash?” She started crying. She told,”Didi, I am in great problem. Prakash behaviour and his intentions are troubling us. I asked, “He again threw the objects?” She replied, “Yes. He is getting irritated at every sentence we are telling him.
Today Mukesh asked about his readiness for competitions and how is he progressing in his studies. The moment he asked, Prakash started back answering him with all the nonsense logic. He started throwing objects again. He said his father of not having any faith over him and not allowing him to do things of his choice.
Mukesh also started angry and told him that now he is not talking to him. Since four days they are not at talking terms. I do not know what to do? This has been the problem since his childhood.Didi please help me.
I do not know how to tackle them.” I hold her hands and told her to consult some pshychotherapist. She affirmed in yes. She asked me if she could go to Dr. Anjali. She was a good counsellor. She only had handled Reena’s breakup case and now Reena has moved on gracefully.
But I had to stop her here. I said, “ Neeraja, You need Pshycotherapist, not a counsellor. Both are different. Neeraja asked, “Didi, how both are different?” Where should I go then ? I donot know anybody else. I told her I suggested her to go to Dr. Vinita, an acclaimed psychologist.
I told her the difference between the two. I told her that “Counselling is treatment process offered for short time and mostly offered for recent and immediate problems and helps in dealing various emotions such as grief, jealousy, anger etc., while pshycotherapy digs into the person’s psychological history over a span of years.
It uncovers deep rooted cause of problems to bring in more profound changes in perspective regarding one’s attitude towards the different situations. Prakash problem has been since childhood. So he needs to work on his unconscious triggers to resolve the issues. Even you and Mukesh also go for the same process and then tell me the result, Even you also have to work on yourself to remove unconscious blocks.
Neeraja went satisfied with a promise to keep me updated on the treatment process.
20th April ’2020
April’s sun has setup hot flashes in climate. I am again at 11:30 a.m. sitting with a light cup of coffee just going down in memory lane. I remember Neeraja of Dcember’2016 and I recall of her 2020 avatar also. She is very happy. Her son is a very successful investment banker.
They are enjoying their family harmony. She gives the credit to me. She came with a bouquet of yellow flowers and sweets to show her gratitude towards me. It was all due to the suggestion I gave her to go Dr. Vinita. Pshychotherapy helped them to their present happiness. And yes I also am very satisfied and happy for them. She is so near to my heart.
